The project consisted of replacing the intake (PE) valves and creating technical facilities supplied by the Enedis network, with a fibre-optic link between the sites. Flow meters were installed on the penstocks (CF) to verify that there were no leaks.
The CF comprises three branches connecting the two PEs to the plant, located at an elevation of 1,082 m. The Chagne branch is equipped with a minor irrigation branch connection, followed by a second one known as “Risoul”, with a diverted flow rate ranging from 100 to 300 l/s.
A configuration comprising a Y-shaped penstock and two isolated intakes in the mountains, not connected to the electricity or telecommunications networks, made it difficult to monitor the risk of CF rupture.
